The WSD 2022 Organizing Committee is excited to be producing two compelling opportunities for theatre and architecture students to participate in workshops mentored by world renowned artists Pamela Howard and Jean-Guy Lecat.
Please click on the workshop titles below to view and download the call posters. You are invited to share this widely with faculty and interested students in your program. These artists have provided workshops internationally and the organizing committee is determined to provide this unique opportunity to Canadians.
Call 1 – The Toledo Panorama with Pamela Howard Workshop - July 25 (Virtual) and Aug 3-7. Twenty participants will be chosen to create a performative installation artwork based on El Greco’s Panorama.
Call 2 – The Theatre Space Transformed with Jean-Guy Lecat Workshop - April 18-22 (Virtual) and Aug 13-15. Four Teams of four or five participants, composed of an architect, set and lighting designer(s) and technical director will reinvent the creation of theatre spaces using ecoscenographic methods.
Participants will be required to register for WSD and fund their own travel and accommodations to attend the event.
World Stage Design is an OISTAT event held every four years that is comprised of four distinct components that are presented simultaneously: International Design Exhibition and Competition, Scenofest Conference, Theatre Architecture Competition (TAC), and Technical Invention Prize (TIP). At WSD2017 in Taipei, 168 designs from 35 countries were on display, and 121 performances of 35 different productions were presented selling 5,000 tickets. The conference included panels, keynote speakers, and workshops. WSD2017 hosted more than 15,000 visitors from 71 countries over 10 days, exchanging and sharing ideas.
