Job Description / Duties

Applications are invited from qualified and interested candidates for the above-noted non-union position at the Brockville Arts Centre.

Reporting to the Coordinator Technical Services, the Assistant Theatre Technician provides technical support to the artists, clients, and the community users of the Brockville Arts Centre. This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and safe operation of the lighting, sound and other technical equipment.

Specific duties include but are not limited to: assisting with advancing and staffing of events; lighting, sound and technical set-up of shows and functions presented at the Arts Centre including load-ins, load outs, and performances; assists in all areas of theatre productions support; fills a running crew position for performances, capable of operating a live audio console and related audio equipment, and/or lighting console in a busking or programming capacity, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Essential (Minimum) Qualifications:

• Three (3) year college diploma or degree in Theatre Production or Live Performance Production or related field of study or equivalent industry/professional experience.
• A minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
• Valid Class ‘G’ drivers license
• Working at Heights Certification, First Aid CPR-C Certificate and Rigging Training.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, good interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills.
• Strong knowledge of computers and software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, networking for theatre and audio-visual control systems)
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot digital audio mixing console, lighting console and related equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to work and assist a wide range of performance types including live music, theatre and dance, etc.
• This position involves physical labour and candidates must be physically able to perform the essential duties (lifting, climbing, standing) in a regularly physically demanding work environment.
• The ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule which includes evenings and weekends.

Salary: $28.97/hour - $34.60/hour (37.5 hours/week) Plus, a comprehensive benefit package and OMERS pension plan
