The purpose of the Grant is to help people involved with, or preparing for, a career in the production/technical areas of opera, to improve their skills or to work on a personal project related to opera. Candidates for the 2014 Grant must be pursuing a career in opera production; for example: costume, set or lighting design, stage direction, etc.

The 2014 Grant is not available for singers or for the completion of a degree. Singers may apply for the 2015 Grant in the Fall (November) of 2014.

Grant applications will be judged by a jury of three members of the operatic/artistic community on the following points:

- potential of the applicant

- merit of the project

- education/training or work-related experience

The Grant will be made available at the start of the successful candidate’s project. The recipient must send a report on the project to the Vancouver Opera Guild not later than three months after its completion.
