AIEST Local 523, with the generous support of the Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund (CPAWRF), is excited to offer the courses Techniques for working at height: Rigging Technician 1 & 2.
These trainings are open to all performing arts workers and are offered free of charge. **Courses will be delivered in French**

Dates:
Rigger technician 1 (base): 04-05-06, 10 and 12 January 2023
Rigging technician 2 (rescue): January 13, 19 and 20, 2023
Description RIGGING TECHNICIAN 1 (basic):
Participants will be introduced to the basic rules and principles of rigging activities in the entertainment industry (theater, arena, etc.), the use of a rescue device, the application of a rescue method and self-rescue on a rope and the safety rules governing rescue and evacuation activities. Prerequisite: none, but this training is mandatory for the Technician Rigger 2 (rescue) training.
Description RIGGING TECHNICIAN 2 (rescue):
This training is intended for participants who may have to evacuate and get out of a dangerous situation at height or called upon to perform a rescue at height as part of the activities of the company for which they work. It is aimed at workers who have already worked at height. Participants will be introduced to the application of a rope rescue and self-rescue method, the use of a standardized rescue device (CSA Group such as a Rollgliss, RPD, Deus, etc.), rescue equipment (CSA Group and NFPA such as a descender, weight transfer system, ropes, etc.), and the safety rules that govern rescue and evacuation activities. Prerequisite: Rigger Technician 1 course.
