What's New > Rapier Wit's PAL Firearm Safety Workshop in October
September 22, 2011
This is a ‘must’ course for actors, directors, and stage managers. Its depth and focus on the entertainment industry make it the only one of its kind in Ontario. For liability and safety reasons, it is best practice for all theatre companies to have a licensed PAL holder on staff if firearms or replica firearms are being used in a production.
Rapier Wit’s Possession and Acquisition License Course will give participants the opportunity to earn their firearm licenses while training in safe and effective performance techniques for stage and film. This unique course takes three days to complete with over twenty hours of training and testing in non-restricted, and restricted firearms.
The unique third day is our practical day where the participants will be firing blanks from eight different types of firearms and learning how to use these props safely and effectively for stage and screen. We will be covering safe angles, proper stances, draws, and carry.
The fee covers the PAL teacher/adjudicator, Rapier Wit's practical day instructor, two text books, blanks, firearms, and coffee and cookies to keep everyone awake. There is an $80 fee that must be paid to the government for your license but that is not needed until all your documents are sent in after the workshop. Instructions on how you are to proceed to get your PAL will be given during the first two days of class.
