What's New > NAC Launches National Audition Coaching Program for Students in Under-represented Communities
![]() |
The National Arts Centre is committed to being part of a theatrical industry that reflects the full diversity of Canadian society. As a small step towards this goal, the NAC is offering free individual coaching sessions for students planning to audition for post-secondary theatre training who self-identify as members of under-represented communities.
What is an under-represented community?
We understand this concept very broadly. Simply put: if you don't see or hear enough people on Canadian stages who look or sound like you, then we’d like to hear from you.
Successful candidates will be paired with an alumnus of the NAC Ensemble for two one-hour sessions via skype or similar technology. Students will receive coaching for their upcoming audition(s), and will have the opportunity to ask a professional artist about the reality of a career in the theatre.
We have a limited number of spaces available for this program. Admission is by application. Students may apply from anywhere in Canada. Please help us spread the word to potential candidates.
Application Deadline: February 12, 2016
Coaching will take place in the spring of 2016.
