The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) and The Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) are pleased to announce the launch of a NATIONAL SURVEY of the Canadian cultural sector labour force - the first of its kind since 2010 and the only current national research on the sector’s employers and workers.

All cultural sector employers and individuals are invited to answer the survey’s questions at: www.conferenceboard.ca/CulturalLMIsurvey

The survey will cover Broadcasting; Film and Television; Digital Media; Book and Magazine Publishing; Music Industry; Live Performing Arts; Visual Arts and Crafts; and Heritage (Libraries, Archives, Museums and Built Heritage) – as it did in 2010. It will include not only assembling and analysing the most recent labour market information for the cultural sector, but also insights into trends and forecasts, based on interviews with many sector leaders.

Results from this survey will be used in the broader Labour Market Information Study of the Cultural Labour Force (LMI) to be published by CHRC in September of 2019. Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the LMI will serve to inform government and cultural sector stakeholders as a comprehensive repository of knowledge on Canada’s current labour market. The LMI will also provide recommendations on how to address identified issues, trends and forecasted cultural labour supply-demand gaps. Finally, the LMI will serve as a decisional tool for future policy, program and funding needs.

Employers, artists and cultural workers are encouraged to respond to and disseminate the survey through their networks.

For questions about the survey and/or the LMI Study, please contact CHRC’s LMI Project Manager, Grégoire Gagnon, at ggagnon@culturalhrc.ca.
