The landscape of diversity on stage and screen has faced significant scrutiny and transformation in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic acted as a catalyst, amplifying calls for change that led to the fundamental restructuring of many live entertainment institutions. These efforts aimed to create safer and more equitable environments for BIPOC artists and professionals. Despite these steps forward, the production industry continues to grapple with technology and experience gaps that have historically hindered true inclusivity. Nonetheless, advancements in technology, particularly in lighting design, have begun to reshape this narrative, perhaps offering a new era of representation and authenticity across various industry sectors.
