CITT member host a rare tête-à-tête with the Space Station

Downlink allows direct connection between theatre and Space Station

Article written by Paul Galinski, Peak Online, Power River (BC)  - From nearly 350 kilometres in space, Canadian astronaut Dr. Robert Tirsk replicated an event that inspired his whole life direction 47 years ago.

On February 20, 1962, Thirsk was one of Shirley Cole's Grief Point Elementary School grade three students gathered around a radio during John Glenn's space flight. Glenn was the first United States astronaut to orbit the Earth.

On Thursday, October 22, 2009,  Thirsk, from the International Space Station (ISS), was able to make use of advancements in technology and have a live video and audio downlink with an auditorium full of students at Max Cameron Theatre, including many from his old elementary school.
