The Playwrights Guild of Canada presents the Playwrights Resiliency Program.
This program is made possible by the Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund from the Government of Canada. From October 2022 to March 2023, they’re offering free, comprehensive programming in four dynamic streams to help professional playwrights enhance their career resiliency skills.
Each stream has something unique to offer including workshops, panels, webinars, pitch showcases, paid mentorships, legal support, specialized training, and more! Discover what the Playwrights Resiliency Program can do for you and join a community of playwrights building resiliency together.
Who is eligible?
This program is FREE for all professional playwrights, theatre creators, and dramatic storytellers working in Canada. No affiliation or membership with PGC is required. We define a ‘professional’ artist as any of the following:
- someone with specialized training in their artistic field
- a person recognized by their peers as a professional
- someone actively committed to devoting more time to their artistic practice
- a person with a history of public presentation or publication
The Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for playwrights to gain personalized learning experiences by pairing up with a mentor or mentee. Deadline to apply: January 6th, 2023 at 11:59pm PST.
If your application is successful, both mentor and mentee will each receive a minimum honorarium of $750. Both participants of the mentorship are required to complete three mentorship sessions and provide a final report detailing learning objectives and achievements before March 31st, 2023.
Applicants must choose to apply as either a Mentor (the person providing mentorship) or a Mentee (the person receiving mentorship). You can apply as an individual and entrust PGC to match you with a fellow applicant, or you can apply with a co-applicant of your choice.
You must be registered for the Playwrights Resiliency Program to participate in this program. Registration is FREE.
