Scenic Painter/Props Person

Theatre North West is seeking a Production Associate to begin duties late-July 2014.

Reporting to and working in collaboration with the Artistic Producer and the Technical Director, the Production Associate will play a pivotal role in realizing the artistic vision of the theatre. The Production Associate’s main focus will be properties construction, creation and sourcing, along with set dressing/decorating and scenic painting. The role also requires administrative skills.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The Production Associate must have a solid understanding of props construction. She/he will work with the designer to execute the designs in keeping with the production schedule, taking responsibility for properties procurement, construction and maintenance, along with inventory and organization of props storage. The Production Associate will work within specific budgets and maintain ongoing fiscal responsibility. She/he will oversee and work with other staff members who assist with properties during the build period. Aside from production work, the Production Associate will take on certain administrative tasks. This is a position for a flexible, collaborative individual who thrives on variety.

Additional Information

As a smaller theatre, TNW has a highly collaborative atmosphere with an emphasis on team rather than a departmentalized approach. The successful candidate must be at ease with highly flexible work hours and environment. TNW operates with a smaller staff than most regional theatres. When setting budgets, the theatre makes remuneration of mid-level positions a priority. The resident staff works very hard, is paid well and is very committed. Remuneration for this position is commensurate with experience and education.
