This is a Permanent, Part-time position.
Category: ProductionMagnus Theatre is now accepting applications for Props/Scenic Painter for the upcoming 2015/2016 season.
The position is regular part-time, 20 hours per week, with additional hours during busy periods.
Start date is ideally August 17. Rehearsals begin Aug. 24.

Duties and skills required for the position include, but are not limited to:
Properties
- read and interpret scripts, identify props used, research and source props.
- props building using materials such as wood, foam, paper mache, fabrics, adhesives, clays.
- paint touch-ups, basic sewing, minor wood or metal repairs.
- props buying, renting, responsible for petty cash
Scenic Painting
- colour mixing using pre-mixed paints or using paint powders and standard bases.
- interpret and reproduce paint design schemes and colours from drawings, photographs, or models.
- layout and paint large scale designs such as flooring, wall treatments, exteriors, landscapes.
- breakdown of props and set elements to produce effects such as weathering, patina, wood graining.
General
- a valid driver’s license is required for this position.
- basic computer skills including use of email, MS Word and Excel, and internet search tools.
- comfortable working at low and medium heights from ladders or platforms.
- able and willing to work evenings and weekends as required by production schedule.
