Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Producing Artistic Director of the Canadian Music Theatre Project/Theatre Sheridan Producer, and in conjunction with curriculum co-ordinators, the Production Manager designs and directs operational procedures for Theatre Sheridan and all other activities which take place in Macdonald-Heaslip Hall and the Studio Theatre. The incumbent is responsible for the integration of these procedures within the overall academic plan, which includes oversight of planning and administration of resources, project costing, budgeting and supervision of production and technical staff on a project-by-project basis.

Specific Responsibilities:

•Planning, developing, maintaining and supervising the academic production activities for Macdonald-Heaslip Hall and studio theatre;
•Overseeing the areas of planning and resource allocations and day-to-day supervision of production staff on projects;
•Liaising with Producing Artistic Director, where applicable, as to seasonal playbill and creates seasons and production schedules and timetables compatible with the academic timetable;
•Working closely with faculty, staff and students across the Sheridan community and externally with clients being served with an objective of creating interdisciplinary and inter professional linkages resulting in production opportunities for students as part of their learning;
•Working closely with the Producing Artistic Director on project costing, facilities and resources allocation, budgeting and invoicing;
•Participating in the development and control of budgets for all productions;
•Under the direction of the Producing Artistic Director, develops marketing campaigns for production and academic activities of the Music Theatre department and Theatre Sheridan and the Canadian Music Theatre Project;
•Providing leadership, guidance, inspiration and direction to a team of full-time and part-time technical staff - technologists, Box Office Manager, project-based staff, interns, students and work study students;
•Ensuring health and safety standards associated with the production industry are adhered to;
•Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

•2-year diploma in Professional Technical Theatre (or Live Events) Production or Administration along with a minimum of 7 years of experience working for a professional theatre company (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience)
•Strong decision-making skills with the ability to delegate and supervise effectively
•Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills are required to understand and determine solutions to production challenges
•Ability to establish and implement theatre procedures
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts
•Working knowledge of computer programs used in the practice of production management for the theatre
•Experience with Budget planning & monitoring
•Strong knowledge and experience with health and safety oversight
•Experience in business management, administration, development and fundraising is an asset
•Teaching experience would be an asset

Salary: $85,631 - $90,983
