Job Description / Duties

This position carries a fluctuating split portfolio of approximately 75% production and 25% building/facilities and reports to both the Director of Production and the Chief Financial Officer.

As the Production Assistant, the employee will assist the Director of Production with the creation and implementation of production schedules, acquisition of materials and supplies, ongoing budget tracking, review and documentation of production policies and procedures, and communication flow for both the mainstage season and auxiliary programming, including special events.

As the Building Manager, the employee will be responsible for the coordination of space usage, rentals, and facility upkeep. The Building Manager will generate rental contracts, coordinate keys and codes for appropriate parties, and schedule cleaners and contractors.

The Production Assistant/Building Manager is a proactive self-starter with strong communication skills. Opportunities to further develop skills in the scene shop and digital streaming may be possible for the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Liaise with department heads and artistic staff in the preparation, logistics and delivery of show elements
• Assist in the management of schedules and production budgets
• Attend all staff, departmental, and production meetings and publish approved minutes as requested
• Assist with space preparation, load-ins and load-outs at the O’Brian Centre, the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and other venues as programming dictates
• Maintain accurate records of all production and facility purchases
• Maintain records of off-site storage
• Manage and maintain company vehicle
• Assist the stage management team as requested
• Coordinate rental agreements and associated scheduling requirements

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Graduate of a Post-Secondary Education in Theatrical Production
• Superior communication and organizational skills
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Experience in contract execution and negotiation
• Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office 365 applications, Dropbox, Zoom, Google Drive
• Appreciation for live entertainment
• Class 5 Driver’s License & a clean Driver’s Abstract

Assets:

• Occupational First Aid Level I or II
• Experience with CAD software, specifically Vectorworks
• Experience with power tools
• Experience driving trucks up to 5-tonne

Salary: $55,000 to $60,000 commensurate with experience
