Job Description / Duties

Summary:
The Lead Stage Hand takes care of all the technological needs for live performance by setting
up, working with and taking care of the necessary audio, lighting, backline and tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Work with the Venue Technical Supervisor to facilitate the stage setup requirements of
the performance.
 Work from the day of show production advance to properly prepare, patch, and provide
all audio connectivity required. Plot and hang all lighting elements and lighting
connectivity required. This is inclusive of any stage requirements such as mics, electrical
drops, risers, steps, follow spots, special effects lighting, moving lighting and theatrical
effects.
 Setup and maintain inhouse backline equipment
 Perform equipment and system maintenance as directed by the Technical Supervisor.
 Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Position Requirements
 Five (5) years of experience as a stagehand for live performances.
 Working knowledge of both conventional and LED lighting elements inclusive of
dimming and connectivity.
 Working knowledge of proper lighting technique across different musical and theatrical
platforms inclusive of orchestral presentation.
 Ability to read and interpret a standard lighting plot and facilitate the hang of
the plot.
 Working knowledge of proper mic technique across different musical platforms
inclusive of orchestral presentation.
 Set and patch a stage according to provided stage plot and input lists.
 Proven ability to work with different artists needs at the highest level of customer service.
 Experience in creating and maintaining a safe working environment.
 A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture through effective
management with the goal of achieving a healthy and safe operation.
 Professional, proven customer service skills with demonstrated interpersonal,
organizational and communication skills
 The ability to work in a team environment, liaise with key external and internal
stakeholders at all levels of the organization and the public.
 A valid Working at heights and Scissor lift operator Certification
 A valid Ontario driver’s license, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.

This is a I.A.T.S.E. Local 461 certified position. IATSE members from sister locals are encouraged to apply. A non-IATSE member successful in obtaining this position will become a member of Local 461.
