Job Description / Duties

ACTC is currently accepting applications for the Part-time, Regular position of Goldcorp Stage Technician. The Goldcorp Stage Technician will work under the direct supervision of the Goldcorp Stage Technical Director and will be responsible to the Technical Director and Stage Managers specific to each production.

The Goldcorp Stage is the newest and most modern of the three Arts Club venues. It is outfitted with the latest technology including an entirely LED lighting inventory. As a flexible theatre space, it can be configured in a variety of styles, including proscenium, thrust, alleyway and arena.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated with excellent communication, organizational and time management skills, have experience successfully leading theatre crews and must maintain a calm and collected demeanor when faced with stressful situations. The ideal candidate will possess a composed, flexible and diplomatic attitude in dealing with crews, cast, stage managers, designers, managers and all Arts Club staff.

This is a Part-Time Regular position under the I.A.T.S.E. 118 collective agreement; employment will be as required, depending on the specific demands of respective productions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Program and operate ETC Ion Lighting Board
•Program and Operate Yamaha digital sound board and Dante digital soundcard network
•Program and operate Qlab 4 and well as other video, sound & presentation software
•Be part of running crew for all ACTC Goldcorp Stage productions & assist on Goldcorp rentals and special events as needed
•Lead and supervise the installation of all lighting/sound/video for all venue productions and assist with carpentry when required
•Supervise show crew on all venue productions
•Supervise venue, stage, and audience riser reconfigurations
•Submit venue, tech and show reports to production management and company staff as necessary
•Assist with all aspects of pre-production as it relates to lighting/sound/video
•Assist with building and installation of practical lighting and special effects
•Document and track show-related configuration in cooperation with the designers
•Ensure proper use, maintenance and organization of venue, facilities, tools and equipment
•Communicate effectively and efficiently with management, artists, crew and other ACTC staff
•Maintain a professional and presentable demeanor toward ACTC staff, designers, artists, technicians and clients
•Assist with ongoing maintenance, organization and purchasing of consumables
•Assist with occupational safety and health of workers

Qualifications / Required Skills

•Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a venue technician for a professional theatre company
•Valid LPEC certificate
•Able to work at heights & climb ladders, repeatedly lift, push or maneuver heavy loads, lift at least 50lbs, working safely both alone, assisting and/or supervising others
•F.E. certificate, OFA Level 1, Pyrotechnic certificate or Firearms license would all be considered assets.
•Proficient in programming and operation of computer lighting boards (ETC ION, Grand MA) and all components of the lighting system
•Experienced in programming and running sound and video control for live and pre-recoded material (Q-Lab, Isadora, PowerPoint, etc.)
•Experience with both conventional & LED fixtures and sACN and ETCnet networks
•Experience with Dante and Crestron network infrastructure
•Able to read, understand and implement Designer plots for Lights, Sound and Video and associated paperwork
•Able to supervise crews of 4-10 people
•Basic Stage Carpentry Skills
•Able to work at heights

Salary: Salary: $28.62 per hour
