Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Production is responsible for the production and technical elements of The Centre in The Square activities and oversees the building operations department.

Leadership
• Communicate and adhere to corporate, health and safety and human resources policies and ensure compliance by staff, clients, and promoters.
• Foster and maintain a positive working relationship with IATSE Local 357.
• Participates in labour negotiations with IATSE for stagehands and building operations.
• Manages all production and program related capital projects.

Planning
• Work with the leadership team to develop the operating budget.
• Develop the 10-year capital forecast for program and production related projects.
• Responsible for the asset management program in coordination with the City of Kitchener.

Production Management
• Act as Production Manager for shows as required based on scheduling requirements.
• Reviews and assists the Production Manager with production estimates for all events.
• Supervise and monitor the daily production activities and work schedules for load ins, performances, corporate events, load outs and other production activities.
• Supervise IATSE crews.
• Provide technical advice to internal departments on production related matters.
• Schedule and rent production equipment from external suppliers to meet event requirements.
• Advance and coordinate production details including catering, hospitality, stage door reception, security, runners, transportation, merchandise, and VIP events for shows as assigned.
• Provide production settlement information for events.

Building Operations
• Schedule and supervise the Chief Building Operator and Building Operator.
• Procure and coordinate all maintenance contracts for building operations.
• Plans preventative and predictive maintenance on all major building systems.
• Work with the Culture & Entertainment department at the City of Kitchener to coordinate all facility infrastructure renewal projects

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Theatre Production or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years as a Technical Director or Production Manager.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.
• Experience in a presenting roadhouse.
• Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Practical knowledge of employment, labour and health and safety laws.
• Ability to work long hours including days, evenings and weekends as required.
• Proficient in MS Office365 and working knowledge of CADD programs.
• Working at Heights training.
• First Aid and CPR certification.

Additional Information

Participation in OMERS pension plan as well as a generous group benefits plan.
You will be working 40 hours per week including evenings and weekends.
Projected Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $95,000 to $110,000 per year
