Job Description / Duties
Canada’s National Ballet School is currently looking for a cutter and stitchers to assist with the build of ‘Beauty Awakens’, a full length ballet to be presented at Spring Showcase May. 21- 23.
Start date: Cutter: March.16- April.30
Stitchers: March. 23- May. 23
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Working with the cutter, team lead, and head of wardrobe to build costumes adapted from designs
-Alterations on new builds, and existing costumes
-Assist with fittings
-labelling and organization of wardrobe racks
-Dressing, quick changes and costume maintenance might be required
Qualifications / Required Skills
-Working knowledge of stretch fabrics, experience with cover seamer, blind hemmer, industrial serger, zig-zag and straight stitch machines
-Great knowledge of sewing, construction, and alterations
-Pattern making and drafting skills required (cutter role)
-Will have a degree, or diploma in fashion or theatre production
-Strong communication, organization and time management skills
-Works well with others in a collaborative environment
-Creativity and passion for sewing garments
-Works well under pressure and can meet deadlines in a timely manner
Salary: stitcher rate: $17-22/hr, cutter rate: $25-27/hr
