Job Description / Duties

In an effort to broaden the reach of our recruitment efforts, we are posting an open call for Stage Managers and Assistant Stage Managers to apply for our 2024 season. These positions report to the Director of Production or designate and are part of the Production team.

Since we are working on finalizing the schedule for the season, we are requesting that interested applicants provide us with information regarding their availability via an online form. Responsibilities:
• Stage Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
o Overseeing a production during the rehearsal period and during performances
o Maintain and assemble prompt scripts including detailed notes on blocking
o Maintain artistic and technical intentions of the director, producer, and designers after opening
o Coordinate and communicate with heads of all other departments
o Maintain records as necessary to advise the theatre and Equity on matters of company discipline, overtime, meal breaks, working environment, health and safety
o Adhere to, implement, and enforce the Stratford Festival’s Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within the reporting structure
• Assistant Stage Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to:
o Organizing a production during the rehearsal period and backstage during performances
o Prepare and maintain detailed notes and lists on props, costumes, scene timings, costume changes, actor entrances/exits, and scene changes
o Coordinate and liaise all aspects of a production by communicating information to all departments involved on a daily basis
o Oversee an efficient backstage area during a production by paging scenes and accounting for props and costumes
o Adhere to, implement, and enforce the Stratford Festival’s Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within the reporting structure

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:
• Qualified Canadian Actors’ Equity Association Stage Manager
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
