Job Description / Duties

The Canadian Opera Company is seeking an Assistant Stage Manager for their production of CARMEN in the upcoming 22-23 season. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Stage Manager. The ideal candidate will have confidence in stage management systems, be proficient in reading music, and demonstrate key leadership and organizational skills in an Equity, TMA and IATSE working environment. Applicants should have experience working in opera, musical theatre, or ballet, and be a team player who demonstrates a keen interest in building positive relationships with artists, production and music staff.

Key Responsibility
• Assisting Stage Management with rehearsals and running of productions

Contract Dates: September 8th to November 4th 2022

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Theatre Production or Music, or relevant experience
• Ability to read music
• Member, in good standing, of the Canadian Actor’s Equity Association
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Excellent time management and problem solving abilities
• Ability to work both independently and with a team
• Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
• Highly organized
• Knowledge of operatic canon and prior work in opera or musical theatre an asset

Salary: Weekly Rate for this position is $1356.84 per week.

This position shall be engaged under The Canadian Opera Agreement (COA), Canadian Actors' Equity Association, and salary commensurate with Point of Origin minimum fees.
