Job Description / Duties

The Theatre Production Program at Humber College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach the following courses starting September 2016;

Sound 2: Is an elective course for second-year students taught in the Fall Semester (September-December) to 2 sections of approximately 10 students for 2 hours per week. This course concentrates on digital mixing, recording, editing, and playback. The course is taught in a Mac lab, primarily using ProTools and QLab. Equipment available includes analog and digital mixers, and digital field recorders

Sound 1: Is a mandatory course for first-year students taught in the Winter Semester (January-April). This covers basic theory and the hands-on setup and use of analogue sound equipment for PA, reinforcement, and playback. This course is taught for 7 hours per week: a 1-hour lecture to the entire class and three 2-hour lab periods with smaller groups of approximately 12 students.

There will also be opportunities for some supervision and mentoring of sound crews for productions, approximately 20 hours in the fall semester and 40 hours in the winter semester

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful applicant would have some previous experience teaching, and would have at least 5 years of experience in the field as a sound technician and/or designer.
