Just for Laughs is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to work in our team as Production Manager. We are looking for someone who has strong organizational and communication skills, is able to multi-task and function in time-sensitive and high-pressure situations, and who has experience working in live show management / operation.
The Production Manager will work closely with the Director of Production to ensure all production requirements for all divisions of Just for Laughs (Touring, Festival, and TV) are met.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Coordinate all technical / production aspects of Just for Laughs’ various tours, events, shows, and festivals;
Create and manage production budgets, complete show settlements, and assist in the creation and completion of feasibility studies for potential shows/ tours/ events;
Responsible for contracting, scheduling, administration, basic accounting, and logistics for all technical personnel and equipment;
Organize and perform site visits and feasibility studies globally;
Negotiate suppliers and service contractors;
Advance venues and local labour contracts;
Assist in the hiring process for all other contracted production staff positions; and oversee and direct various production staff;
Act as Production Manager, Tour Manager, Technical Director and/or Stage Manager as required, on selected tours / shows and coordinate required tasks accordingly;
Create, maintain, and implement procedures and plans for the Production Department;
Propose or create and maintain any sets or technical designs, as required;
Work closely with all Directors, Producers, Artists and their Representatives, as well as with other departments;
Work in a team environment with all production team members;
Ensure that occupational health and safety procedures are implemented and followed throughout production;
Manage the Just for Laughs warehouse and keep inventory of all stock;
Assist the Director of Production with all aspects of their job function as required;
Qualifications / Required Skills
Five (5) years of experience in live show or event production management;
Professional training in show production or project management;
Experience in stage management, technical installation/operation, or theatrical design is an asset;
Planning, budgeting, and negotiating skills;
Skilled in expense forecasting and tracking, along with basic accounting skills;
Proven ability of managing employees;
Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills;
Capacity to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines;
Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Photoshop, AutoCAD or Vectorworks is an asset;
Willingness to undertake challenging work that does not conform to regular schedules; including long hours, some nights and weekends;
Ability to travel internationally;
Valid driver’s license is an asset;
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential; bilingualism (French) is an asset.
