This is a Temporary, Part-time position.Category: Technical
(Seasonal: Up to 49 Weeks)
Reporting to the Coordinator of Backstage Services, you will:
+ plan, establish and maintain the safe and efficient installation of all rigging and acrobatic equipment for productions in accordance with the Director and Designer's vision
+ take the lead in coordination of all rigging as needed to run the performances and rehearsals
+ adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Administration regulations and Town policies and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment for staff
+ maintain daily, weekly and long term inspection and maintenance schedules
+ ensure the stage, backstage, and shop areas applicable to the rigging equipment are kept clean and organized
+ establish emergency contingency procedures for show systems with Stage Management and all of the technical team and ensure all are trained and familiar with these procedures
+ advise all departments on matters of overhead safety and fall protection and ensure that an efficient rescue procedure has been developed and practiced for every high work or high performance area
+ participate in special projects/events as required
+ coordinate with other departments onstage as needed to run the performances and rehearsals.
The successful candidate will possess:
▪a Vocational School Diploma in a related field
▪a minimum of 2 years of experience with single purchase fly systems, manual counterweight systems, acrobatic rigging installations, theatrical rigging and maintenance and inspection routines
▪a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position on large scale productions
▪experience operating a scissor lift including the knowledge and implementation of safety procedures
▪strong organizational, problem solving and creative abilities
▪demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
▪current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
▪demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
▪knowledge of MS Office: Word and Excel
▪internet research abilities will be an asset
▪fall arrest training, WHMIS training
▪The ability to work a flexible schedule, days, evenings, weekends and public holidays, is a requirement of this position. In addition, you may be required to meet the requirements of "standby" in accordance with the provisions of the CUPE Local 905 Collective Agreement. This position is a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E.).
Salary: 26.53 Hourly
