The Arts Club Theatre is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Regular Assistant Stage / Fit-up Carpenter. This position is part-time under an IATSE 118 agreement and will work under the supervision of the Technical Director of the Production Shop in pre-production and the Technical Directors for the Arts Club venues on installs. Hours of employment will be as required. This part-time permanent position is expected to start on or around April 3, 2017.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
•Set construction in scene shop
•Assist with set fit up and tear down in the production shop
•Supervise and assist with fit up and strike in different Arts Club venues and attend to notes
•Supervise and assist with truck loading/ unloading
•Advise and assist with on-going stage & scenery maintenance
•At least 2 years’ experience as a stage technician
•Able to work at heights / climb ladders
•Able to repeatedly lift, push or maneuver heavy loads, either alone or with assistance from others
•Valid BC Driver’s License, able to drive a 5 ton truck
•Preference may be given to persons holding additional certificates for one, or all of the following;
Supervisor Safety, WHMIS, 1st Aid, a valid B.C. driver’s license, LPEC, Pyrotechnic and/or Firearms certificate
The Assistant Stage Carpenter will be self-motivated and have excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Must be flexible in outlook and approach to the position and be diplomatic in dealing with crews, cast, stage managers and all other staff.
Salary: Salary: as per the collective agreement.
