Most great leaders have had mentors and mentees. Their success depends on this relationship. It is well known that mentoring builds and maintains a skilled workforce. Are you deciding to find a mentor or become one? Are you familiar with all of the elements involved? What are the benefits no matter where you are in the production chain?
This presentation will explore the fundamentals of mentorships with the goal of bringing clarity and understanding of the mentor/mentee process. The session will break down the what, why, how, and who aspects, identify the best qualities of a good mentor and mentee, benefits and risks, target motivation tips and best practices. Planning for mentorship, and optimizing mentorship opportunities within the production context will be discussed with a goal of participants becoming fully prepared to enter into a Mentor/Mentee relationship.

  • Define the differences between mentorship, coaching, apprenticeship and internship;

Presenter: Deborah Osborne

Deborah is a Media Executive, Production Planner, Consultant, and Trainer with Terrier Marketing. Her 30+ year career began in theatre and opera stage management. In addition to working on film, television and live productions, Deborah has authored articles for industry publications and taken leadership roles in innovative training initiatives, academic courses, seminars and workshops. In 2016 Deborah was honoured with a Crystal Award for Mentorship by Women In Film & Television.
