Job Description / Duties

Perchance Theatre seeks a Production Manager to join us. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, talented, flexible, individual with a deep love of making theatre magic, especially in unique environments.

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Artistic Producer, the successful candidate will be overseeing all production aspects from conception to completion of the 2024 summer repertory season. Starting on a part time basis, and becoming full time during the summer, this position can begin remotely if needed.

Also on the management team will be an office administrator who will work closely with the PM on budget and expenditure tracking.

RESPONSIBILITIES
>Overseeing the production team (crew, designers, productions assistants, etc.) throughout the pre-production/rehearsal/production processes.
>Work with AP on hiring of staff
>Contract staff in conjunction with AP and Office Administration
>Creating production calendars & working with TD to make tech week schedules for the repertory season in accordance with CAEA Dance
Opera Theatre (DOT) Agreement.
>Work both indoors and outdoors in Conception Harbour, NL
>Overseeing departmental budgets to make sure all departments work within budget
>Overseeing all departments to make sure rehearsals and design/construction is going on time and on budget.
>Oversight of rentals, returns, storage of equipment for the rehearsal hall and the theatre.
>Attend all production, company and staff meetings, dress rehearsals for each production, and participate in the planning and coordination of all production week activities.
>Chair production meetings (creating schedule, agendas, and taking minutes).
>Acting as site manager for the theatre during the performance season, maintaining the venue and assisting all departments as needed.
>Working with Box Office, Technical team, and Stage Management to ensure flow of shows, change over times, etc with events/performances.
>Other duties to be discussed in interviews.
>Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are met. Review all relevant health and safety policies before any work is done, and bring any necessary changes or updates to the attention of the Artistic Producer and Office Administrator on a timely basis.

Qualifications / Required Skills

>Graduate from an accredited post secondary institution in the field of theatrical production, or relevant experience.
>A thorough and current understanding theatre management, festival management considered an asset.
>Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
>Excellent problem solving skills
>Strong leadership skills.
>Excellent communication skills.
>Strong team player.
>Ability to lift 50 pounds
>Working at heights
>Comfort working on both A frame and Extension ladders
>Strength in solving interpersonal conflict.
>The ability to remain calm, positive and focused in a high pressure and deadline based environment.
>First aid training is considered an asset.
>Drivers license required

Additional Information

​DURATION: 18-21 weeks tbd [Anticipated Start Date: week of April 1st]. It starts with part time work and becomes full time in May.

Salary: $1300-1400.00 weekly

Our work is created with a focus on the outdoor environment and live creation and as such we have extremely basic lighting, and do mostly live sound/music scapes. Our technical needs focus more on set and props and always creating with an eye to responsible environmental practices. Where possible we reuse and recycle existing theatre elements to minimize our impact.
