Responsible for the supervision of the technical operations of the Performing Arts Centre (PAC), the delivery of theatrical service to presenting and rental clients, as well as services to the University. Understand the variety of different production needs of PAC clients and serve those needs through the function of the theatrical systems. Responsible for the recruitment, training and scheduling of staff as well as the overall health and safety program of the technical department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Liaise with clients daily to meet their technical needs.
•Responsible for the hiring, training, evaluation and scheduling, as well as setting annual goals and objectives.
•Develop, implement and monitor all health and safety programs for the Performing Arts Centre (PAC).
•Train all contractors, volunteers, freelance, union, part time and full time staff on health and safety procedures at the PAC.
•Provide tours to clients and potential clients.
•Maintain a functioning inventory of technical equipment and manage equipment rentals.
•Manage the lifecycle of equipment and develop a capital forecast for equipment needs.
•Present an annual capital budget for equipment replacement and repairs for approval and adhere to the approved budget.
•Plan annual maintenance of technical systems and equipment.
•Communicate with clients to advance technical needs as required.
•Provide advice and guidance on best practices in the technical areas to users of the PAC.
•Perform administrative duties related to Show expenses and reports.
•Act as a back-up for the Client Services Supervisor as needed.
•Responsible for performing workplace inspections, conducting safety information sessions, observing employee safety, investigating incidents, correcting safety violations and commending employee health and safety performance etc. including the documentation of these activities.
•Perform other similar and related duties as required.
•College diploma in theatrical or sound production, events management or related discipline.
•Three (3) years recent experience in providing technical services in of professional theatre or major entertainment venue.
•Experience with volunteers and practical knowledge of theatre environment is essential and Theatre and production experience is an asset.
•Motivated individual with well developed coaching, supervisory and leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
•Sound organizational and communication skills.
•Professional, proven customer service skills with the ability to work with groups and liaise with key external and internal stakeholders.
•Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated experience working with Lighting Design Software, Digital Sound and Lighting Consoles.
•Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
•A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture through effective management with the goal of achieving a healthy and safe operation.
•Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
•A valid Ontario driver’s licence, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.

Salary: Exempt Pay Group 6 – Minimum $59,339 annually; Maximum $74,172 annually
