Job Description / Duties

The School of Creative and Performing Arts programs at Humber College train students to work in a variety of areas in the field. The incumbent will teach courses in performing arts production (such as scenic carpentry, wardrobe, props, paint, lighting or sound) and may be assigned to other courses within their area of expertise. The ability to design in any of these areas would be viewed as an asset. In addition, the successful candidate will support student recruitment, student mentoring, and the implementation of innovative instructional techniques to a diverse group of students. As the incumbent will be responsible for classroom management and evaluation, critiquing and coaching students, designing and developing curriculum, and regularly revising course outlines for pedagogical relevance and professional currency, maintaining strong industry and professional ties by the successful candidate is required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary degree in Theatre as well as a minimum of three years teaching in a post-secondary institution. They must have at least 5 years of professional industry experience, preferably working with original and/or devised creations.
