Job Description / Duties

TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is accepting applications for the contract position of: Production Manager (Festival Street)

TIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Canadian cinema to film lovers in our home TIFF Bell Lightbox. Reporting to the Manager, Festival Logistics and part of the Event Production team, the Production Manager (Festival Street) will be responsible for production management and site operations of programming, sponsor and partner activations in the hub of the Festival Village. This position works closely with the Programming and Technical Production teams and will oversee a production coordinator, production staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities:
Shall include but not be limited to:
Oversee planning and execution of all production elements, logistics and site operations of Festival Street
Develop, implement and manage site plans, site layouts, and production schedules
Oversee load ins, setups, load outs, day to day operations, staging, security, signage, storage, staffing, site management, crowd management, traffic control, rentals, safety and emergency policies and procedures
On-site direction of production staff during load-in, day to day operations and load out
Assist with artist, performer and sponsor logistics including builds, technical and staging requirements
Ensure successful execution of programming, sponsor and partner activations
Ensure all site operations and infrastructure requirements in place i.e. power, facilities, emergency vehicle access, waste management, signage, security
Hire, train, schedule and supervise production support staff
Create and update training documents and legacy documents
Determine and secure necessary permits, licenses, documentation and insurance
Prepare quotes, cost items and maintain production operating budget
Source and select vendors and suppliers and manage contracts
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project goals and timelines are met
Liaise with property owners, community partners, City of Toronto departments and other stakeholders regarding site setup, site operations, transportation management planning and access
Create and maintain a detailed production log and write a detailed post mortem
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Execute the highest services standards, policies and procedures for the Event Production area as they relate to the TIFF Visitor Experience Strategy

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience in live event production and production management
Minimum 4 years experience producing large scale cultural events and high profile outdoor events
Minimum 3 years leadership and supervisory experience
Extensive experience creating and managing detailed production schedules
Extensive experience working with visual artists, performers, musicians, cultural groups, sponsors
Excellent technical understanding of A/V, lighting, staging, projection, rigging and outdoor installations
Self-starter who takes initiative and is able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
Superior interpersonal skills and ability to lead and give direction effectively
Strong scheduling and budgetary management skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective relations with multiple stakeholders
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, AutoCAD or site layout programs)
Familiarity with City bylaws and relevant legislation in the areas of Health and Safety, Employment Standards, Transportation and collective agreements
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Ability to maintain broad focus while attending to detail
Ability to work and respond well in fast-paced and high pressure environments
Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends
Understanding and commitment to superior client servicing and awareness of industry trends
