Employer Profile

OSLT Mission Statement:

* Offering our members opportunities for developing skills in the art and business of theatre.
* Support for a broad range of performers and artists to use The Roxy Theatre.
* Local partnership building with community groups to support our mission.
* Theatre performances, repertory and original, regularly produced by members.

The Owen Sound Little Theatre is a not-for-profit organization now celebrating its 59th season. The membership is comprised of hardworking volunteer members who produce four productions annually – a fall musical and three non-musical plays.

OSLT has full-time and part-time paid staff: an executive director, an administration manager, an administrative assistant, and box office staff. The organization consists of over 200 members, who contribute tens of thousands of volunteer hours each year.

In addition to Owen Sound Little Theatre productions, the organization offers The Roxy Series; a Professional Presenting Series showcasing the best in contemporary Canadian music, theatre and comedy; as well as an annual family-friendly professional Children’s Performance Series and performances for families and youth, including children’s theatre camps.

The Roxy is also regularly rented to concert promoters and artists throughout Ontario and numerous community groups for special events and recitals.

Although it is extremely rare for a community theatre to own its own theatre, OSLT owns and operates The Roxy Theatre building. Originally the Grand Opera House, it was constructed in 1912 and has long been a landmark in Owen Sound. The Roxy is the premier regional destination for live theatre and music performances. This historic soft-seat opera house holds 400 people and is located in Owen Sound’s historic downtown core. The licensed bar in the lobby accommodates groups and serves as a venue for receptions, meetings, and art exhibitions.
