A member of the Performing Arts team, the Assistant Technical Director is a service-oriented individual, providing technical and supervisory support in a busy production facility. The Assistant Technical Director reports to the Technical Director and Production Manager.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Supervises and coordinates stage crew as directed by Technical Director and Production Manager.
•Acts as main technical contact for events in Mazzoleni, Conservatory Theatre and Koerner Hall lobbies.
•Maintains an inventory of technical equipment and supplies necessary to perform functions inherent with events. Notifies Technical Director when supplies need to be re-stocked.
•Performs minor maintenance work, repairs cables, sorts and re-locates equipment after events.
•Occasionally meets with clients to discuss event needs and notates event requirements into the production events files / folders as required.
•Inspects lighting, sound systems, cables, fly system, boards and power sources on a regular basis.
•In conjunction with the Technical Director; performs or schedules necessary maintenance or repairs to ensure safety of both performers and employees.
•Serves as manager on duty in the absence of other employees.
•Adherence to dress code as dictated by events.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of stage management principles and practices.
•Highly skilled in stage production methods and techniques, including lighting, audio reinforcement and recording, video and rigging technique.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Knowledge of requirements / conventions for all musical genres.
•Bachelors' degree or diploma with a major in Technical Theatre Production or related field and or five years of stage management and/or theater production experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
