Join us for an informative session on LED house lights!

In recent history, house lighting for theatres was often an afterthought.  Bulbs were readily available, fixtures were cheap and simple, they looked good, and quality dimming was assured.  However, measures put in place by governments worldwide to reduce energy consumption have made incandescent bulbs increasingly difficult to source. While many specialty tungsten-halogen lamps we use in conventional fixtures remain available, many of the lamps used in our house-lighting fixtures are no longer manufactured. Most theatres have turned to 'dimmable' LED retrofit bulbs, but performance varies wildly; and a note on a data sheet a lamp is 'dimmable' is probably not sufficient for our applications.

In this session, we will explore what our LED house light options are, how LED fixtures dim, how to choose LED replacements, and what we can do with our existing equipment to improve performance.
