Formerly 'Moving Light Showcase & Demo'.

In this presentation we will review some of the core principles of stage lighting theory, explaining how elements like intensity, color, and distribution are manipulated to create mood, guide attention, and advance storytelling.

We'll then explore the impact of moving lights in theatre, detailing their advanced capabilities through a live demonstration of fixtures and ending with a hands-on Q&A session.

Paul Del Motte (he/him) has over forty years of professional experience in technical theatre, lighting and sound design, directing, and performance space design/renovation consulting. In addition to serving as Production Manager/Technical Director/Front of House of the Mount Allison University Drama Program (Sackville NB) for 38 years where he was directly involved in all elements of theatrical design (particularly lights and sound) including general instruction for students as well as individual mentorship projects, Paul was also directly involved in the technical planning of the construction of the Motyer-Fancy Theatre (Mount Allison University’s current performance space) and currently serves as a consultant for performance space design and renovation for Mulgrave Road Theatre, among others. Paul’s directing work includes musicals, small operas/operettas, and plays, and he has designed light and sound for Neptune Theatre, Ships Company, Live Bait Theatre and DanceEast.

After completing a BFA in Technical Theatre Production and Lighting Design at the University of Victoria and 5 years as a theatre designer, Jamie moved into the world of Corporate Events. Twenty-five years later, he joined Christie Lites Sales in 2022. As a sales leader and business development champion, Jamie helped develop some of the most respected AV staging brands in Canada including Mediaco, Frischkorn Audio Visual, FMAV, and Bespoke Audio Visual. With a passion for business strategy and team alignment, Jamie leads Christie’s high-performance sales team.
