Job Description / Duties

The Venue and Events Coordinator will lead event preparations and logistics at the Baumann Centre; our 150-seat music and event centre which hosts recitals, performances, screenings, lectures, classes, receptions and meetings. They will also support opera staff with off-site events and logistics as required.

Duties
• Coordinate room bookings and event services for all venue users
• Maintain communications with venue users, partners and vendors
• Conduct room setups and teardowns, including seating and décor
• Fulfill front of house duties, checklists, pre-show and interval procedures
• Oversee all aspects of the guest experience, including event hosting, monitoring, or concession stand serving
• Provide for the comfort and safety of guests, attending to first aid as required
• Supervise event staff, volunteers and contractors
• Maintain event and venue supplies, order catering and special event permits
• Maintain tidy, organized and welcoming public spaces and
• Maintain safe and secure entrances, including snow shovelling
• Maintain opening, closing, security and emergency procedures
• Supervise maintenance and janitorial contractors
• Assist staff and artists with off-site events, including logistics, setups and teardowns
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

Competencies
The role involves being active for the duration of shifts, and would suit someone who enjoys being busy, has an interest in the arts and a passion for delivering high standards of service. The position is 25 hours per week Part-Time (or Full-Time 35 hours per week including janitorial maintenance duties) with a variable work schedule that includes some evening and weekend hours.

• At least one year of relevant experience
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Willingness and ability to multi task
• Physically able to lift and carry supplies
• Valid driver's license
• FoodSafe Level 1 and Serving it Right (training can be provided)
• First Aid and CPR Certification (training can be provided)
• Experience working in hospitality is an asset
• A passion for the performing arts an asset
• Attention to detail and an attentive attitude is vital

Salary: Salary range: $30,000 per annum Part Time (or $42,500 Full Time including janitorial maintenance duties) plus extended health and dental plan, and optional matching RRSP contribution. Start date: June 20 2022, negotiable.
