Job Description / Duties

The Venue Services Associate welcomes visitors to Scotiabank Dance Centre, assisting them with studio rentals and responding to phone and walk-in enquiries; you will take rental bookings, maintain client records, process invoices and take payments for studios. This entry-level job is great for motivated people passionate about the arts, and provides an opportunity to hone your administrative skills and expand your network as you start a career in the arts. From time to time you may be required to sell tickets to events, take workshop registrations, and respond to a variety of dance-related queries from visitors. You will also be able to see performances organized by The Dance Centre for free!

Qualifications / Required Skills

If you possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, are always on time, have a friendly attitude, and wish to be part of a creative community, this job is for you! The Visitor Services Associate reports to the Venue and Services Manager.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Completion of High School is required
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

The ideal candidate will have:
• Ability to maintain focus and a professional demeanour while serving large numbers of visitors and responding to phone enquiries
• Ability to work as a team member with other visitor services staff to ensure efficiency and continuity of workflow throughout the day
• Attention to detail
• Ability to show initiative and resolve visitor needs and rental enquiries quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Dance/arts-related knowledge/education is an asset
• Various shifts are available (daytime, evening, weekend).
• This is a contract position and hours will vary – typically between 6-20 hours per week. Schedules are set well in advance to allow staff to plan ahead.
• Full training will be provided.
