ABOUT US
Centennial Theatre is a well established community, municipal 660-seat performance facility located in North Vancouver. As part of the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission (NVRC), Centennial Theatre excels in providing a diverse array of year-round experiences for local and regional community groups and audiences. With a focus on community engagement, Centennial Theatre provides both rental and presenting shows. The theatre’s talented staff ensure a high quality experience not only for the audience but its performers and community rental groups. This 60-year-old facility, has a long and valued place in the heart of the community. It is the largest stage and auditorium on the North Shore. It is a full-service facility comprised of a Performance Studio, Box Office, Lobby, Community Art Gallery, licensed Concession, Bar, and outdoor Patio.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK
The Theatre Supervisor requires the skills of a community relationship builder who is responsible for the efficient operation of the facility including staff supervision, facility operations, program development, budget management, and client and audience services. The position involves working with other NVRC departments to ensure excellence in service delivery and optimal facility utilization throughout the year. As part of the leadership collective, there is considerable independence in judgement within the framework of established guidelines, policies and procedures. This is an exempt position reporting to the Manager, Recreation and Culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Fosters and maintains excellent relationships with the performing arts collective as well as within the local general arts community.
• Ensures the theatre remains current, relevant, animated and a valued asset to the community.
• Monitors trends and best practices to ensure a freshness to its performing arts service delivery.
• Develops excellence in the staff team to deliver a high quality customer and client experience.
• Participates in programming Centennial Theatre Presents performances based on community interest, artistic direction, and operational parameters.
• Oversees process of master theatre schedule, show report approvals, and allocations.
• Oversees the theatre allocations and bookings.
• Oversees supplies and purchases for goods and services.
• Works with other NVRC departments to explore opportunities and provide excellence in service delivery and outstanding facility services.
• Prepares and recommends policy, procedures, fees and charges.
• Participates in the preparation of and administers the annual operating budget for the facility.
• Submits capital requests for consideration in the annual capital budget process.

YOU WILL HAVE CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE IN:
• Operating community performing arts theatres and facilities;
• Managing a community performing arts theatre including accounting, production, front of house and audience services;
• Performing arts programming and show service delivery;
• Making principle-based decisions and recommendations;
• Team building, leadership and coaching approaches to ensure staff provide exceptional day-to-day operations; and
• Budget planning and understand this within the confines of a municipal setting.
YOU WILL HAVE AN ABILITY AND THE SKILLS TO:
• Showcase and lead by example excellent customer service practices;
• Provide leadership and thoughtful rationale for harnessing opportunities;
• Work effectively with both internal and external teams;
• Communicate professionally and effectively (written and verbal);
• Navigate contract and ticketing software;
• Meet deadlines and organizational requirements; and
• Demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a variety of arts and community groups.

Qualifications / Required Skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum two year diploma in an appropriate field such as Fine Arts, Arts and Entertainment Management, or Business Administration;
• Three years of experience in the general management of a performing arts theatre
or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and
• Serving it Right and First Aid Certification.

In that regard, North Vancouver Recreation & Culture has introduced a mandatory COVID-19 Vaccine policy applicable to all of its employees. Compliance with this policy is a condition of employment and the condition in particular is that employees must either: (1) be fully vaccinated, and have provided the Human Resources Department with proof of same; or (2) be determined by North Vancouver Recreation & Culture to be exempt from this requirement for reasons of accommodation under the B.C. Human Rights Code.

This is a regular full-time exempt position that may include working days, evenings and weekends for 37.5 hours per week. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment.

CLOSING DATE: March 14, 2022

Salary: COMPENSATION: Remuneration range is $91,200 - $101,356 per annum. NVRC values employees, offering a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to participate in an earned day off (EDO) program.
