Job Description / Duties

The technical director/production manager at Ship’s Company Theatre leads a crew of people for our season of programming which includes a concert series, guest touring presentations as well as in-house shows produced by the company. The variety in our programming requires an efficient and organized person to oversee the season schedule for all technical and production areas. Along with supervising and managing the technical and production staff (including a house technician, head of props and carpenter), this person is the primary liaison with the stage management teams and guest presentation companies.

Qualifications / Required Skills

- The ability to organize detailed schedules and manage deadlines
- Able to lead, teach and share knowledge
- Able to create a respectful and fun team environment
- Strong communication skills
- A good overall understanding in the areas of lighting and audio
3 or more years of experience within the production and technical theatre industry
- Carpentry knowledge is an asset

Additional Information

Contract length: 9 weeks
Dates: an 8 week in-person contract from June 27 – August 21, 2022 with an additional weeks worth of remote part-time preparation work
Fee: $820/week
Travel and Accommodations: Ship’s will provide travel to and from Parrsboro, NS. Ship’s will help in finding reasonable and affordable housing for the length of the contract.
