Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working in collaboration with the English and French program directors, the person in this position provides guidance and technical support to students. They are responsible for supporting all student production projects throughout the school year in both official languages. In addition, this person is responsible for ensuring compliance with the health and safety standards in effect, as well as the operating rules of the School.

The Challenges
More specifically, this employee will :

• Guide and mentor students throughout the production process.
• Provide appropriate pedagogical and technical support during set-up, strike and productions;
• Collaborate in the planning and coordination of production needs, schedules and human resources for student productions as well as some in-house School events;
• Work with instructors to prepare the necessary equipment for classes (sound intensive, video, rig, etc.);
• Meet the pedagogical needs as defined by the Program directors and assist trainers in their pedagogical and artistic endeavors;
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, rules and protocols;
• Ensure proper functioning of equipment in the various school spaces;
• Participate in common departmental meetings to identify the needs of the various production contributors;
• Provide training to students as needed;
• Facilitate interactions between operations and pedagogical team;
• Take part in the end-of-term evaluations of students;
• Collaboratively plan, develop and manage technical equipment acquisition plans;
• Ensure the update of technical riders at the school;
• Manage computer software and workstations with assistance of the IT team in the sound studio, video room, and on production laptops as well as ensure the proper and optimal use of the sound and video editing studios;
• Coordinate the transfer of technical equipment between the two campuses with other NTS technical leaders;
• Stay aware of best practices, new trends and new technologies in their field;
• Develop and maintain a respectful working relationship with all students.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Demonstrated experience in a similar position with evidence of success;
• Working knowledge of Lighting, Sound, Video and Rigging technology for the stage
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or VW considered an asset
• Working knowledge of Excel and other data management software an asset
• Understanding of the technical building blocks of live theatre performance and a strong desire to work with students in developing this process
• Ability to communicate, build trust and pass on knowledge;
• Ability to manage staff and work towards developing their autonomy;
• Bilingualism, both written and oral;
• Ability to prioritize and work with deadlines;
• Strong aptitude for teamwork, open-mind
• Excellent interpersonal skills, sense of initiative, problem solving, judgment, creativity, diligence, diplomacy, autonomy, integrity, sense of humour and stress management;
• Strong manual skills and class 5 driver’s licence.

Salary: Between $60,000-75,000 (depending on experience) + flexible schedule, paid vacation, advantageous pension and health plan benefits.
