Job Description / Duties

Staging Operator

This position works as part of a team, providing staging technical services to presenters that meet the Sydney Opera House standards. This position works with clients to support and deliver events and productions, maintaining high quality customer service at all times. The role contributes to the maintenance and security of technical equipment, venues and upholds WHS standards.

We are looking for someone with:
*Knowledge and experience (at least 1 year) working in a live theatre or event environment.
*Demonstrated general technical understanding, skills and experience in staging and of the requirements of live theatre and the performing arts industry.
*Basic hand and power tool skills and experience are desirable.
*Current driver’s license (Class C) and forklift license are desirable.
*Physical fitness, agility and ability to work at heights.
*Ability and commitment to work on a rotating shift basis.
*Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within teams and across multiple disciplines to ensure completion of work.
*Good communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills.
*Commitment to abide by Opera House policies, particularly WHS procedures, including manual handling techniques.
*Demonstrated knowledge and application of computer related technology.

Staging Technician

This role works as part of a team to deliver the highest technical services in the field of staging. The role is customer focused and supports performers to achieve excellence in their field, drawing on high level of skills and experience as a technical operator and a formidable aptitude for, and comprehensive understanding of, staging equipment and systems. This role leads small technical teams to deliver outstanding theatre and entertainment production services to clients.

We are looking for someone with:
*Knowledge and technical experience in either Staging in a live theatre or event environment.
*Ability to set and construct staging equipment and scenery by following plans and other documentation for a wide range of performances.
*Experience in operation of machinery, systems and equipment relevant to the role.
*Relevant licenses and qualifications (highly desirable).
*Ability to lead a small team to execute effective and efficient outcomes.
*Ability to interpret and create relevant documentation and implement technical production requirements.
*Physical fitness, agility and ability to work at heights.
*Ability and commitment to work on a rotating shift basis.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Commitment to abide by Opera House policies, particularly WHS procedures including manual handling techniques.
*Demonstrated knowledge and application of computer-related technology.

Additional Information

The Sydney Opera House is currently accepting applications from international candidates and will consider sponsorship and/or relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Full Time (average of 38 hours per week, over a 4-week period) opportunities.
12- or 24- month contracts available.

Salary: Staging Operator - hourly rate of $33.35 AUD (inclusive of scaled penalties) / Staging Technician - hourly rate of $43.39 AUD (inclusive of scaled penalties) / Sunday hourly rate applies / Overtime where applicable / 10.5% superannuation contributions.
