Job Description / Duties

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out professional stage management work at Grenfell Theatre, Memorial University. This includes scheduling, coordinating and supervising departmental theatre productions, including stage managing productions, supervising and mentoring student stage managers and designing and delivering stage management curriculum to students in the Technical Theatre Production program. The post of Stage Manager reports to the Technical Director. Duties include delivering stage management classes to students in the Technical Theatre Production program; demonstrating professional Stage Management protocols and techniques; assisting in the coordination, scheduling and organizing of productions within the program; coordinating departmental rehearsal schedules, daily changes, production department meetings; maintaining production prompt script and communication call board; overseeing backstage activities; and performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Experience (3-5 years) in professional stage management, is required, preferably including experience with students in a theatre training program. Graduation with a degree or diploma from an accredited theatre training institution is required, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of current techniques and trends in stage management is required.

This is an 8-Month Contractual Sessional Position with a possibility of extension.

Salary: $50,296 - $70,526 per annum
