Job Description / Duties

We are currently in search of a Stage Carpenter to join the Kidd Pivot touring crew. This position offers opportunity to gain touring experience both domestically and internationally for the successful applicant.

The Stage Carpenter is part of the Touring Technical team, sharing the responsibility for installing, running, maintaining and striking the production Assembly Hall. They can interpret set plan drawings and follow an assembly plan. The Stage Carpenter works under supervision and direction of the Technical Director (TD), often in concert with the TD.
This is a limited full time contract paid at a weekly rate between $1000 and $1200/wk.
Dates for the 2023 Canadian tour start November 26 and finish December 17. 2024 dates for Europe begin late February to mid-May.

The Stage Carpenter typically carries out the following duties:
• Set Load-in and Load-outs
• Prop and Road Case maintenance & improvements
• Assist the Stage Manager in their running track
• Assist the Show Control technician in setting up a projector on stage.
• Assist other touring departments occasionally.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:
Completion of a relevant post-secondary program in Theatre Production and Design, Stagecraft, or related field; or, at least 2 years of demonstrated technical theatre experience with experience in stage carpentry and/or rigging.
Holds a valid passport. (As of Feb. 2024)

These skills are often used on tour and are considered an asset:
- Basic rigging
- Leading a crew of up to 6 to perform the tasks of the set load in and out.
- Basic Carpentry
- Working at heights (Genie push about and ladders)
- Independently lifting up to 50 lbs physically, or through rigging or other solutions
