Job Description / Duties

The Regional Tour Technical Director shall work in close co-operation with the Tour Coordinator and shall assist in building good relationships with presenters at each venue.
The Tour Technical Director will work closely with the Tour Stage Manager. In all matters relating directly to the presentation of the play and the actors' schedules, the Tour Technical Director shall defer to the Tour Stage Manager.
Although the Tour Technical Director shall oversee and be responsible for the safe and timely set-up, operation and tear-down of the touring production, the MTC Tour is a collaborative effort. The Tour Technical Director must involve and communicate with the Tour Coordinator, Stage Management, Tour Technicians and Volunteers in decisions that may affect the operation of the show.

Duties – pre-tour (2 weeks):
• Rent and prepare lighting and audio equipment
• Pull and prep tour equipment
• Prep tour vehicles
• Determine truck pack
• Set up and tech show prior to tour

Duties – Tour (5 Weeks):
• Coordinate the load in, set up, take down and load out of the set, lighting and sound at each venue. This work to be undertaken with the assistance of the Tour Technician and volunteers provided by each venue.
• Supervise the electrical hook-up at each venue. If required, this hook-up will be carried out by a licensed electrician provided by the presenter.
• Supervise volunteer workers at each venue.
• Maintain all tour equipment.
• Supervise tour technical staff.
• Produce a report as required for each performance and venue, outlining all problems and successes.
• Update existing venue plans and measure and record any new venues.
• Share driving 5-ton truck
• Maintain Vehicle Log

Duties – Post Tour (3 days):
• Prepare & return rented lighting and audio equipment
• Update new venue information in tour documents
• Flag tour equipment issues / needed repairs
• Return rented tour vehicles

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Good background in lighting, sound, and staging
• Able to set-up touring lighting, audio and staging elements for the regional tour
• Ability to trouble shoot lighting, power, audio, and staging equipment
• Familiar with basic theatrical lighting and audio
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Able to drive 5-ton truck
• Work well with volunteers and members of the touring company
• Minimum two years’ experience in theatrical scenic art

Salary: Compensation • $1,440 /week • While on tour o $70/ day perdiem • Plus Accommodation (single on days off)
