Job Description / Duties

Research/Practice Expertise:
• A clearly articulated statement of research, research creation, or professional practice and specialization in either stage or costume design, or both, for the live performing arts.
• Research excellence or promise of research excellence at a recognized international calibre, as evident in: the research statement and creative interests; a record of productions, presentation, and publications as may be relevant; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.
• Outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate, externally funded research or research creation at the highest level.

Teaching:
• Excellence or promise of excellence in teaching university-level courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as evident in the teaching statement, past accomplishments, and pedagogical innovations (e.g., in one or more of areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning, community-based learning); teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
• Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position will include graduate teaching and supervision.

Qualifications / Required Skills

MFA, PhD or MA with extensive professional experience is required by the start of the appointment, with professional design experience in either stage or costume design, or both, for the live performing arts.

We encourage applications from candidates who can integrate digital technologies in the live and digital performing arts (e.g., virtual stage design, digital costume and character design, participatory/interactive technology, digital integration in distance collaboration) alongside excellent material practice skills across a range of contexts, such as stage, screen, site-specific, among others.
