Employer Profile

Project Overview
Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Naila Keleta-Mae's research-creation project Black And Free is a dynamic multi-year project that brings together artists, students, public and private sector partners, and the general public. The project examines (through research, scholarship and art) what Black expressive culture teaches us about blackness and freedom in the 21st century.

Project Partner
Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum (KSWRM) is a partner of Black And Free through collaborating on the presentation of a public programming event (with an educational component) each year of the project. They are providing staff resources to support the research and public engagement with the project’s themes and they are making museum space available for research programing. They are using their involvement to develop more creative and inclusive programming that will “express the stories of Black freedom in public spaces.”

Purpose
The Production Manager is responsible for the event management of all production staff and production elements of Black And Free’s program at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum. This includes both stage productions and educational, promotional, or other presentations or appearances that require production elements. Reporting to the Creative Director and working closely with the Stage Manager and Project Coordinator, the Production Manager maintains a high level of artistic integrity, safety, and appropriate working environment for artistic, academic and production personnel (including artists, speakers, technicians, and BAF project and KSWRM staff).
