Job Description / Duties

The Role
The Production Manager will lead the production team in all production related activities for Canada’s most active touring dance company. The Production Manager will hire and supervise crew, be the primary technical contact for all venues, and oversee touring logistics for all touring personnel. The Production Manager will tour with the Company as needed, so a willingness to travel is a must. As the head of the Production department, the Production Manager must be a proven leader, with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team while navigating the unique complexities of a touring ballet company.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Management and leadership of all technical crew including the Technical Director, Stage Manager, Lighting Director, and Wardrobe Manager;
• Direct and advise and the touring crew to ensure that repairs are completed, Schedules are met, and proper equipment prepared
• Communicate with touring crew on an ongoing basis
• Production and season budgeting;
• Stay up to date on all Canadian and United States trucking regulations including weight limits, licence requirements, required time off, driver tracking and paperwork requirements;
• Maintain detailed records of all technical specifications for Company touring venues;
• Create, maintain and distribute schedules, technical information, crew requirements and technical riders for all Company productions;
• Produce master itineraries, accommodation lists, and van allocations for all Company performances and outreach activities;
• Calculate per diems for all touring personnel and submitting to the Company Bookkeeper for processing;
• Authorization and submission of all Production related expenses including touring expenses;
• Contact theatres for technical information with assistance from the Technical Director;
• Book touring related ground transportation, including dancer vans and production trucks;
• Arrange tour accommodation for all Company members, including the coordination of accommodations booked by presenters. Coordinate merchandise sellers and advance complimentary ticket lists with presenters;
• Provide on-site assistance and support from time to time, when necessary
• Develop new and adjust existing department organization and processes to increase efficiency and balance workloads

Qualifications / Required Skills

Requirements
• Strong leadership skills;
• 5+ years of theatre production experience a must;
• Class G Ontario Drivers Licence or equivalent a must;
• Valid passport a must;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills a must;
• Ability to travel with the Company when needed a must;
• Punctual, organized and able to perform tasks independently;
• Good relationship building skills;
• Strong problem solving skills;
• Experience in touring is an asset;
• Conflict resolution skills;
• Must be able to handle stressful situations and deadline pressure while ensuring accuracy;
• Skilled in major computer applications related to work including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
• French language, written or verbal is an asset.

The Production Manager will report to the Artistic Director & CEO.
