Job Description / Duties

The Theatre Program invites applications from individuals interested in teaching the following: THEA 2090 Production - Technical Theatre. The successful applicant will be required to design one or more elements of the Theatre at Grenfell Fall 2023 productions and supervise students in a production crew capacity.

Course Description: THEA 2090 Production – Technical Theatre involves practical work for Technical Theatre Production Majors in a departmental production in a supporting capacity (i.e. assistant stage manager, wardrobe assistant, etc.).

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications: Undergraduate teaching experience would be a benefit. M.F.A. degree in Theatre or equivalent combination of professional experience, training and education in design and technical theatre production is required.

Additional Information

Subject to budgetary restrictions and sufficient enrolments, appointments will be made on a course by course basis and will not entail any obligation to conduct research or to perform any administrative service for Memorial University. Appointments will be made in accordance with the provisions in the MUN-LUMUN Collective Agreement. Course design and evaluation methods for all courses will be in accordance with the Theatre Program regulations and the Memorial University Calendar.

Course Title: THEA 2090 Production - Technical Theatre
Course Schedule: Monday through Thursday from 19:00 to 23:00. The winter term begins on September 6 and ends December 4, 2023

Technical Theatre and Production students are required to perform various production functions on mainstage productions from 2nd to 4th year (recent seasons have included Shakespeare, Chekhov, re-imagined classics, and contemporary plays). As well, Grenfell Campus has a masterclass component which allows students to work with professionals in a particular area (such as props design and execution).
