Job Description / Duties

The Friends of the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society is looking for an experienced Audio Technician to work as its Principal House Audio Operator for the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, located in Edmonton, Alberta. The Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is a 2,500 seat Road House soft seat theatre, with several meeting and conference spaces.

The successful candidate shall have skills in the live mix of a wide variety of performance situations ranging from Opera, to Rock and Roll, touring Broadways, to Community Concerts. The successful candidate shall have skills in setting up, maintaining, and repair of a wide variety of state of the art audio equipment. Experience with Digital Audio mixing is necessary, and knowledge of Digico Audio Consoles is an asset.

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of video, projection, and computer networks. Also experience of mixing a variety of professional touring, theatrical productions. The position requires a self motivated individual to exercise considerable artistic and creative judgement, taking into account the cultural diversity of both amateur and professional clients, to communicate and co-ordinate operations with other departments – for example, lighting, stage, Front of House – and to supervise IATSE technicians as required on an individual production basis.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Key area of responsibility includes but is not limited to:

· Operation of sound equipment as needed for a variety of events, including live mixing, recording, live re-enforcement design, and integration of external equipment into the house system. This includes but is not limited to Audio, Intercom, A/V, and networking.
· General maintenance and upkeep of equipment.

It is imperative that the successful candidate have the following knowledge/skills:

· The ability to solve problems quickly.
· Excellent skills in the area of written and oral communication.
· Computer skills working in a Microsoft Office environment.
· Finely honed inter-personal skills.
· The ability to lead crews
· Knowledge of stage-crafts and the ability to work with all types of stage equipment and rigging
· Basic electronics experience.

Additional Information

The successful candidate shall be willing to work flexible hours based on the event schedules, and needs of the facility.

This is an IATSE position with Local 210. The successful applicant must either be a member in good standing, or willing to become a full member.

Salary: $38.92/hr with terms and conditions outlined in the Collective Agreement between the Friends of the Jubilee Auditoria Society and IATSE Local 210, 2020-2023
