Job Description / Duties

In this standalone People & Culture Manager position, this role will be responsible to develop and manage a variety of people & culture policies and procedure strategies to support this dynamic organization. Reporting to the Managing Director, our successful candidate will have the ability to thrive in a busy ever-changing environment, build strong working relationships and collaborate with leaders to support the delivery of a people focused culture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• First point of contact for employee-related queries
• Coordinates and administers full-cycle recruitment
• Coordinates and leads customized onboarding processes, including but not limited to documentation, tours, policy overview and training coordination
• Maintains and updates employee contracts and documentation as needed
• Develops and maintains strong working relationships across the organization; is approachable, adaptable, collaborative, self-aware and works with a genuine customer service orientation
• Remains current on employment legislation and guidelines, including Employment Standards & the Labour Relations Code, to regularly interpret and apply HR standards, policies, and procedures as needed by the organization
• Assesses and develops HR practices & processes, in line with organizational strategy and to enhance business effectiveness as needed; provides regular input into departmental plans, programs and strategies
• Participates in the development of and supports the implementation of EDIA initiatives
• Once acclimatized, will assist with inquiries related to applicable collective agreements; will participate in collective bargaining
• Researches and advices on worker-related programs such as Work Share, Co-ops & Internships and other possible funding and learning opportunities
• Recommends and leads employment outreach initiatives such as Career Fairs and other community based organizations to support recruitment and EDIA initiatives
• Collaborates with the Company Manager and the Artistic Team with onboarding of contracted artists
• May participate in a variety of committees i.e. health & safety, merriment guild & others
• Manages and administers employee-related documentation and files which may include a variety of situations i.e. employee leaves of absence, worksafe, accommodations, performance, etc.
• Administers the Employee Benefits Plan

Qualifications / Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 Years of experience working in an advisory Human Resources capacity
• Diploma or Bachelors degree in Human Resources – CPHR designation is preferred
• Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
• Strong conflict resolution, coaching and team-building skills
• Is neutral and carries out all work with sound problem solving & good judgement and a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism; provides sound rational and advice on employee-related matters requiring attention or investigation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Outlook, HRIS and ATS systems
• Well-developed organization and time management skills
• Strong process and operations orientation would be beneficial

Additional Information

Start date: as soon as possible
Salary: up to $73,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills
Employment Type: Full-time 40 hours per week M-F
