Job Description / Duties

- Set up/operation of Digico SD Series and Allen & Heath consoles
- Install microphones, effects and dynamics processing, playback devices, amplifiers, and operate line-array systems for events at the Drill Hall and other venues as necessary
- Troubleshoot, operate and mix sound for various events including theatre, musical theatre, concerts, dance and client events
- Program DSP based audio systems when required. Program and operate audio playback systems such as QLab for theatrical use
- Programming and operation of MA Lighting and lighting control systems
- Create effective lighting for dance, theatre, musical theatre and all types of concerts
- Hang, circuit, colour and focus conventional and moving lights
- Program and operate lighting consoles. Operate a follow-spotlight. Install and program DMX based control systems
- Troubleshooting and maintaining conventional, automated and LED stage fixtures
- Set up scenery and staging for all types of event
- Repair scenic elements, rig and operate flying scenery, and perform scene changes for all types of events
- Participate in production load in and teardown of sets and equipment
- Manage and execute client rentals
- In conjunction with PM liaise with rental clients on scheduling, technical needs and performances
- Liaise with rental clients to ensure venue safety protocols are followed
- In conjunction with PM and Client Services Manager ensure all equipment is available or procured for rentals
- Liaise with Manager of Programming and Event Services during rentals to coordinate load-in/load-outs, audience entrances/exits and ensure that events remain on schedule
- Inventorying, housekeeping, upgrading, and maintenance of audio, lighting and rigging systems and equipment
- Perform weekly, monthly and annual inspections of equipment and theatrical systems
- Indirectly supervise casual SD/LX staff, volunteers and crews supplied by community clients
- Act as a stand-in supervisor of technical services or tech coordinator for events in the absence of PM
- Attend production, company and staff meetings as scheduled and participate in season planning and scheduled meetings in conjunction with PM, Producers, and the Head of Programming and Event Services

Qualifications / Required Skills

Experience & Interpersonal Skills:
- 5+ years professional experience as House, Venue, or A/V Technician and/or combined post-secondary training in a variety of aspects of Technical Theatre
- 2+ years experience in production management and in a supervisory role
- Experience working directly with theatre lighting and sound systems, including board programming, live sound mixing, and a variety of technical set-ups
- Experience working with digital projectors for a variety of uses
- Proficiency in the use of computer hardware, software, and programs, including Google Suite, MS Office, Sales CRM
- Experience with drafting or sketching with CAD softwares such as AutoCAD or SketchUp
- Proactive, professional comportment with excellent customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and excellent scheduling, planning, and organisational skills

Assets:
- A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and able to drive a cargo van
- Certification/Licencing for Occupational First Aid, Electrical (LPEC, etc.), self-powered work platforms, WHMIS, fall arrest, or rigging
- Experience with control interfaces such as MIDI or SMPTE
- Familiarity with lighting networking and dimming such as DMX, ETC Sensor or ETCNet/Ethernet
- Professional training in customer service, team building, or leadership

- Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and other physically demanding conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and additional hours including evenings and weekends
- Attendance and participation in company issued training
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to loud noises

Salary: $52,000-$58,000
