Job Description / Duties

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Front of House (FOH) Manager is responsible for effectively and efficiently overseeing the day-to-day front of house operations and maintenance of the Royal Theatre & McPherson Playhouse FOH areas, while ensuring consistency in providing an exceptional customer service experience for clients and patrons.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administration of all FOH activities including patron services, bar, and concession services.
• Develops and implements training program for FOH staff.
Responsible for hiring, performance management, training, scheduling, discipline, and review of staff.
Responsible for the authorizing of overtime, time-off or leaves of absence and laying off staff.
• Resolve FOH staff issues and receive and respond to any patron concerns or complaints.
• Responsible for ensuring the general security of the theatres including determining when security services are required and scheduling third party security services.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Fire, Safety, Emergency and Crisis management for both theatres, in conjunction with the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
• Responsible for ensuring proper bank deposits of receipts and reconciliations.
• Responsible for the administration of all Custodial staff.
• Responsible for developing proposals and budgets as they pertain to the FOH and Custodial.
• Responsible for liaising with Clients regarding FOH operation in advance of the rental.
• Ensuring that FOH Supervisors have satisfactory information to serve clients during rentals.
• Develop and implement procedures and systems for FOH and Custodial areas of work.
• Responsible for the maintenance of FOH and Custodial equipment.
• Responsible for developing long-term growth strategies for FOH and Concession Services.
• Liaise with caterers and suppliers.
• Uphold the liquor licensing regulations in both theatres.
• Liaise with all other Departments where appropriate.

Qualifications / Required Skills

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Relevant post-secondary education and/or three years of management experience managing large crowds in entertainment or hospitality field.
• Occupational First Aid, WCB Level One and/or Two Certification (training provided).
• Serving it Right Certification (or equivalent).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage employee performance and communicate work expectations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team setting and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and work activities.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Effective computer skills.
